Long Beach High School celebrated its grand opening of its newly renovated campus with a tour for the public.
Everyone got a glimpse at the new cafeteria, gym, performing arts room, and science labs. Construction work was done in phases and took multiple years to complete.
The school also held a memorial service honoring past students who lost their lives and did not get a chance to graduate.
During the memorial, families were given a school brick with their loved one’s name and class while the school kept an identical brick to keep near the flag pole.
Principal Justin Sutton says he hopes the new facilities will keep attendance rates up and he is very proud with how everything turned out. “You want everybody’s kids to be in the absolute best environment to learn and you want to provide that in your school. Our school board, our district leadership in our community has done a tremendous job making this facility that kind of environment for our students. We love it. It’s great. We talk to folks that graduated years back and they were like wow, this is such an amazing facility and it makes you step back and think how lucky we are to have for our students and lucky for our students to be in it.”
Long Beach High School also installed new turf at their football stadium just in time for high school football season.
