PICAYUNE, MS - The City of Picayune has officially broke ground on the job site of their new Police Department and Courthouse in a ceremony today attended by over 100 spectators.
City officials, council members, county and state representatives and the Picayune Police Department gathered around the site for the new Police Station as Picayune Mayor Jim Luke took the podium and thanked everyone who has participated and played a role in the development of the new facility.
The new facility, designed by MP Design Group, will feature over 18,000 square feet of state-of-the-art design and technology, offering enough space to bring all Police Operation under one roof as stated by Picayune Police Chief Joe Quave. “We’ll be able to communicate quicker, not have to travel as far to see each other, not have to pick up the phone. We’ll all be in the same building. I’m all about efficiency. I like to work hard, but I do like to do that efficiently.”
The project is being built by Picayune Native and local contractor Dan Hensarling, owner of Dan Hensarling Inc.
